Hello!
I am Dr Chloë Finch-Kent, the acupuncturist, massage therapist, yoga teacher and scientist behind Move Rest Be. I moved into therapeutic work after a career in Life and Earth sciences and science communication, and I love offering acupuncture, massage and restorative yoga practices from my clinics in Falmouth, Cornwall.
I’ve always been fascinated by nature, and come from an academic background, with a PhD in evolutionary developmental biology from the University of Cambridge. I’m especially entranced by mind-body connections and lines in the body that shape us and allow our minds and bodies to move freely. These lines share parallels everywhere we look; developmental lines are reflected not only in ancient systems such as Chinese Medicine but also in more Western ways of looking at the body, such as neuro-myo-fascial meridians. Naturally, these wonderful interconnections provide ample sources of pain and trouble when not quite in balance, and I enjoy helping you restore this balance, through acupuncture, massage and restorative practices.
It’s a joy to have been part of The Bird House Therapy Centre since it first opened, and I’ve recently taken over as Director of Falmouth Active Health Collective, a growing group of lovely physical, wellbeing and talking therapists. Daunting, but exciting! I’m pleased to be a professional member of the FHT (Federation of Holistic Therapists), ANLP (Association for NLP) and an active member of the ICA (International College of Acupuncture) Community.
Outside of work, I look after my kids, practice yoga, train in aerial silks and rope, cycle and run a bit – especialy when there’s a Race for Life not far away. Given the chance, I love jumping off high places into the sea and escaping amidst the beauty of Cornwall. I do find it hard to find time for stillness in this crazy world, but I fight hard for it. Fave rest practices include the deep magic of yoga nidra and special times to retreat and dive into sacred sound, often thanks to Ali Gunning of Resonant Being.
